button de-crease

I wanted to feature another one of my favorite finds…the Pebbles Inc. Ribbon Iron. Keep reading to find out how you can win a ribbon iron of your own – or the i-magicut ribbon cutter we just shared – your choice of prizes!

flat iron ribon straightener

I order ribbon off eBay and Etsy all the time, and a lot of it is mailed out wrapped around a piece of chipboard – so it arrives with multiple creases. I’ve had a few Paper Source spools of ribbon show up creased as well.

Then one day I ran across the Ribbon Iron at stitchsteals.com. It looks / works very much like a flat-iron styling tool for your hair, but at a lower heat setting that won’t damage synthetic fabrics in ribbon.

Here’s a pop-up video to walk you through what this product does step-by-step:

pebbles ribbon iron YouTube

I use it to flatten the creases out of small muslin bags as well.

Amazon has them on sale for $12.46 right now. (Scrapbook.com is out of stock, but they also sell them for $16.14.)

Wanted to share one of my amazing recent finds – the i-magicut by imaginisce.

ribbon edge fusing fusion

This handy tool cuts and heat-seals the ends of ribbon up to 3″-wide. No more fraying! You can cut straight edges, on the diagonal, and even the popular “Chevron” cut. It takes 4AA batteries and heats in under 5 seconds. Here’s a pop-up video to walk you through what this product does step-by-step:

button so boss

Everyone getting ready for the 2nd annual Wrap Battle that kicks off on December 2nd? Here’s another great way to spice up your packaging – heat embossing!

I started the “habit” a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it! Here are a few tips and tools of the trade to get you started…

And read ’til the end to find out how to win a heat embossing tool of your own!

heat emboss
Shown in the above photo: Martha Stewart Heat Embossing Tool, VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, VersaMark Dazzle Watermark Stamp Pad Frost, Martha Stewart Embossing Stamp Pad, and Tidy Crafts No Spill TrayMate

heat emboss
Shown in the above photo: Opaque White Embossing Powder, Ranger Rich Red Embossing Powder, Martha Stewart Crafts Scandinavian Wooden Stamp Set, VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, and HB Photo Packaging kraft 5×7 box

heat embossing

First take your stamp, press into the clear stamp pad (just like a regular ink stamp), and stamp the box or paper you will be embossing. I suggest a few trial runs first to get the hang of it! (Martha Stewart has more detailed instructions here.)

Then pour your embossing powder over the area you’ve just stamped.

heat emboss

Tap the item to remove the excess powder, and your stamp will have the powder covering it. You might need a small brush to remove excess powder – you don’t want to emboss it as well! Take the heat tool and cover the stamped / powdered area until you see it transform from a “powder” finish to a “slick” / embossed finish.

heat embossing

Let dry and repeat with additional stamps / colors!

button coronation

I’m so excited to bring our Paperie readers one of my favorite new vendorsCrowned Embellishments – for a guest post / giveaway!

crowned embellishments
Anything beautiful is always my inspiration…and what is more beautiful than a brand new babe! I have found my home in portraiture at Meg Fish Photography for newborns and I am always looking for something new and exquisite to use with my clients’ babes.

As a very picky (borderline perfectionist) artist I am very selective in props and set-ups. The crowns were inspired by the metal ancient looking head pieces from Spain…rustic and antique. Crowned Embellishments was born out of this inspiration and now offers stunning hand made crowns and headwraps for photographers that mirror these qualities while being completely safe and weightless for tiny heads.

crowned embellishments infant crowns tiaras
crowned embellishments newborn crown tiara

I love that these tiny creations are works of art by themselves and also that they add an old-world magic to portraiture. The crowns come in seven different colors, and some are also available in larger sizes. I love clients with ideas for a custom crown…because one of a kind is always a treasure.

The Winter Collection will launch on November 1st, but until then the shop is currently fully stocked with crowns…including the best-selling ‘little prince’ crown.

I am a mother to a sweet 1-year old and wife to the man of my dreams. I appreciate the support and love from all of you who have and will place orders. Your business truly blesses us and allows me to keep bringing new creations to you! -Meg

button capture this!

Excited to have another guest / vendor post for a product I use (and love!) – a giveaway for two camera straps from Capturing Couture!

capturing couture

Capturing Couture is a company founded a little over 2 years ago by two working moms; one with a fervor for design and the other with a profound passion for photography. Capturing Couture breaks out into the accessories market with a collection of fashion forward camera straps, adding color and style to a category that has been, to this point, severely monochromatic. The time has come for fashion, form and function to completely merge.

We create two types of straps: One for the SLR/DSLR camera worn around the neck and a second for smaller cameras worn around the wrist. The straps are designed with comfortable padding in the neck to help distribute the weight of the camera, (SLR/DSLR camera straps only) velvet backing, nylon webbing for durability and adjustable hardware for preferred positioning.

Not only do we have fashion forward straps for women, we also carry a hip men’s line. [ Note from Robyn: Shhh! Don't tell anyone but my Capturing Couture strap is from the men's line! ]

button sign on the dotted line

Recently I shared my purchase of the Design Aglow “Essential Birth Announcement Worksheet“. Even if you’re not a newborn photographer, if you sell press-printed cards, this post is for you!

Since that original post I have added to my purchase with birth announcement quotes and religious phrases I have collected, and the press-card print release form I have created, during my five-plus years of being a newborn photographer. (Read to the end to find out how to win!) This makes a stunning presentation to your clients, and also makes their ordering much easier, sparing you both countless time spent back-and-forth during the design process.

Buttons and Bows Photography Orlando Florida birth announcement pack newborn baby infant

my announcement guide that now goes in my welcome kit

I have designed the following as a supplement to the Design Aglow “Essential Birth Announcement Worksheet” (although it can certainly be purchased / used stand-alone with much more limited function). The Design Aglow “Essential Birth Announcement Worksheet” includes one full page of birth announcement quotes and phrases for boys, girls, twins / multiples, sibling-welcomes, religious-themed cards, adoptions, and all-purpose introductions.

My new four-page supplement includes three pages of additional quotes and phrases – plus religious quotes / scriptures – for baby boys, baby girls, and seasonal / holiday-themed birth announcements (Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Fourth of July, fall / autumn, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). And a one-page release for your clients (see below) saving you from expensive reprint costs due to their errors, omissions, or typos on press-printed cards.

Included in this supplemental packet:

1. Press-printed card print release for clients (applicable to
    announcements, invitations, seniors, etc.)

2. Boy-themed birth announcement quotes and phrases
    (including religious and scriptures)

3. Girl-themed birth announcement quotes and phrases
    (including religious and scriptures)

4. Holiday and seasonal quotes, phrases, and scriptures for
    birth announcements

additional girl boy birth announcement quotes
shown above – Baby Girl Quotes (left) / Baby Boy Quotes (right)

Announcement Card Signoff and Holiday Quotes
shown above – Press Card Release (left) / Holiday & Seasonal Quotes (right)

In addition to that, I have included my “Press Printed Card Release” (wording included). This is a form I make all of my clients read and sign off on before their cards and announcements go to print. It eliminates reprints at my expense for their misspellings, typos, and failure to include information. Once this form is signed off on, the customer is liable for the cards or announcements as they approved them (unless the error is a print lab defect or I failed to order the cards as they were approved, for instance if I accidentally submitted the lo-res version for print).

If you’ve ever been burned with the reprint of an expensive card order – this form is for you! And if you haven’t, you need this now before it happens!

This form wording will work for birth announcements and / or any kind of press-printed card you sell (Christmas / holiday card, birthday invitation, wedding announcement, graduation announcement, etc.)

I use the “Press Printed Card Release” text in an online web form that my customers sign off on digitally. You can print and use the text as presented if you do ordering in person, or convert it for online or e-mail use.

These forms are bare-bones to work within the template by Design Aglow (which I highly recommend purchasing). The one .psd file is divided into four folders of text. The only graphic included is a division line. There are no additional graphics or design-elements. Just the text, ma’am! If you choose to use them as a stand-alone product rather than a supplement, space has been left at the top to add your logo / letterhead to each of the pages. See below for excerpts from the different pages.

button Oh, shoot!

I love it when Paperie gets to do a vendor giveaway / guest feature for a product I have, use, and love! Today we’re welcoming “Shoot Baby!™”

shoot baby logo

Founded in 2009, SHOOT BABY!™ has been providing photographers with specialty products to use when photographing newborn babies. Their professionally made Ottoman Posing Beanbag (pictured below) has been enormously popular in the newborn photography industry.

SHOOT BABY!™ beanbags are used by studios such as Baby As Art, Kristen Cook and Little Posers Photography.

shoot baby ottoman puck

Photographers love it because it provides a large, flat and firm (but still soft) surface on which to pose newborns. Traditional beanbags are difficult to use because the baby tends to sink into the beanbag and it’s hard to position their little bodies.

shoot baby

The Vinyl Ottoman is made from a soft faux-leather and is very convenient for cleaning up little ‘accidents’. With it’s large, flat and SAFE surface area, it provides the perfect ‘canvas’ on which to create your art and gives you unrestricted creative control over posing (with and without rolled up bunny rugs / receiving blankets, boppy pillows, etc).

• Diameter: 100cm (approx. 40″)
• Height: 30cm (approx. 12″) – more like 45cm (approx. 17″-18″)
once the beanbag is full and rounded out.

SHOOT BABY!™ sells other products that are incredibly useful to newborn photographers (like the Single Backdrop Stand), and a little birdie also told me they are introducing some new, exciting products later this year!

button happily ever after

It’s no secret that with two young boys, I love doing fairy and princess sessions any time I can. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite online-stops, and a special discount, with you in a guest / vendor post!

bugs n blooms

At Bugs-N-Blooms, our extensive collection of butterfly, ladybug, and bumblebee-themed accessories make the perfect addition to a photographer’s props. Our products are popular choices with parents who want to capture a memorable memento of their little ones’ childhood days.

bugs n blooms

Tiny tykes can be transformed into butterfly princesses with Bugs-n-Blooms accessories. A butterfly costume with butterfly wings, tutu skirts, a fairy wand, and a tiara or flower headband makes an ideal outfit for an annual photo session. Our fire-engine red ladybug costume, complete with wings, tutu, and wand, makes a colorful, eye-catching wardrobe choice, especially for a color photo on a black-and-white background.

bugs n blooms

Parents choose Bugs-n-Blooms for more than just costumes, though. We also offer a wide array of decorations, ranging from wall stickers to mini-bugs and butterflies to mobiles and curtain tiebacks. In fact, you can create an entire garden backdrop with the help of Bugs-n-Blooms.

bugs n blooms

Start with our nylon flowers, which come in mini- and full-sized versions in a number of different designs. Add butterfly decor, nylon butterflies, and glitter ladybugs to introduce some other creatures to the scene. Our mobiles—featuring butterflies, dragonflies, bumblebees or daisies—bring another dimension into the backdrop. Of course, no garden setting is complete without a smiling bumblebee or two, and we have those, too. You can even include one of our nylon hanging suns in your garden scene for a final touch.

bugs n blooms

You can personalize the picture with our reusable alphabet wall stickers, too. If you keep two or three complete sets on hand (with a few extra vowels and popular letters), you’ll be able to spell any name of a photo subject.

Visit our website – bugs-n-blooms.com – to check out everything we have to offer. Our products come in a wide selection of colors and have a variety of embellishments, including, sparkles, glitter, and gemstones.

bugs n blooms

To stay posted on the latest additions to the Bugs-n-Blooms collection, “like” us on Facebook. If you do, you’ll get a special offer: 10% off orders over $25.

button eco-friendly

A beautiful “greenpackaging feature / guest post, and a special lab contest, on tap today…

stamp image

My name is Brittany Langfeldt, of B. Langfeldt Photography, and I am a custom on-site photographer from the Chicago area.

I have always tried to keep my business as “green” as possible and had previously begun using organic and natural materials for my albums and CD cases. But once I saw Caroline Ghetes’ article featured here on Paperie Boutique I was truly inspired. I began trying different ways to package my products and quickly realized how difficult it can be to find organic or recyclable materials.

I bought a copy of Caroline’s resource list and felt like I hit the jackpot! I ended up using a lot of the same vendors or types of materials and ideas that Caroline uses but the only exact item we share is the CD box. I love all the natural products not only because they are eco-friendly but they also have such a unique and beautifully simple look to them.

album

My albums are made of all natural materials. They are packaged in this beautiful slipcover with a beaded closure.

04

For my prints I use black recyclable folders in various sizes wrapped in ribbon.

05

I tied up 2 tags in the ribbon; 1 stamped prints and 1 stamped with my logo.

06

07

08

My CD cases are made of all natural and organic materials not to mention they are gorgeous! I package them in the same box that Caroline uses and again tie them up with ribbon and 2 tags and add a sticker to the lower left corner.

09

I stamp my info directly onto the CD.

02

I include a hard copy of my print license printed on natural handmade paper in a matching envelope. I also have a secondary envelope containing proper storage information, business cards and my refer-a-friend program.

03

View of the print license.

10

Everything all put together!

Although I didn’t use a lot of the same items as Caroline, I did use a lot of the vendors provided to me through the resource list she sells. Therefore I can’t disclose my vendors, but I can tell you if you are interested in this style of packaging you should definitely buy a copy of her list! All the proceeds go towards funding for mission trips!

01

03

Thank you Caroline for the wonderful inspiration!

(And thank YOU, Brittany, for sharing such lovely packaging with our Paperie readers!)

We’d love to feature your packaging here as well! Please e-mail robyn @ this domain to be added to the posting schedule.
