what I am

virtual insanityRobyn L. Pollman owned Buttons and Bows Photography, LLC, in Orlando, FL. She was in business for over 7 years and specialized in maternity, newborn, infant, and baby portrait photography in both studio and natural lighting settings. Robyn was a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Inc. (PPA) and also a member of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), and was named the 2009 “Best Family Photographer” winner for Orlando by Parents Connect and goCityKids.com (a national city directory owned by Nickelodeon / Nick Jr. and MTV / Viacom.

Robyn and her family moved to Atlanta, GA in the summer of 2012. There are no plans to relaunch Buttons and Bows Photography, LLC (and Paperie Boutique) at this time.

Robyn worked as a Contributing Editor for Professional Photographer Magazine writing freelance for “The Goods” & “Profit Center” columns for the June 2010 – June 2013 issues. As part of her duties as Contributing Editor, in the summer of 2011 she began writing as an online columnist for the “Web Exclusives” section of the Professional Photographer Magazine website as well. Robyn’s articles appeared in summer, fall, and early winter 2010 issues – she appeared in all 12 issues for 2011 and 2012 as a Contributing Editor – and continued to appear as a Contributing Editor / columnist in 2013 through the June 2013 issue.

Robyn started Paperie Boutique on July 18, 2009, as an expansion of her popular Fit to Print set on Flickr. This set featured favorite packaging photographs, marketing ideas, and new photography-related product shots. After the first full month of posting in August 2009, Paperie readership increased over 900%.

Robyn was a professional photographer presenter at the May 2010 PDN Virtual Trade Show / Photo District News Wedding & Portrait Expo. Photographer Robyn Pollman, Paperie Boutique, and Buttons and Bows Photography, LLC, were featured in the May 2010 issue of Rangefinder Magazine. Paperie Boutique was also featured in Issue 4 of The Fort Magazine in December 2012.

Robyn is published in the book “Ideas and Inspiration“, one of her newborn photographs now appears in a greeting card line by Susan O’Hanlon Fine Cards (currently available in the UK and Australia), and her theme park photography appears in “A Scrapbooker’s Guide to Walt Disney World“. Robyn was a featured photographer at The Knot / The Nest Baby’s maternity “Bump Contest“.

the family 2012Before starting Buttons and Bows Photography, LLC, and Paperie Boutique – Robyn and her husband Todd were married in 1996 and had two sons in 2004 and 2005. They are Robyn’s biggest accomplishments in life and her pride and joys.

Prior to becoming a mom, Robyn graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1995, created a website called “Wholly Matrimony!” and did web design for Sekimori Consulting.

Robyn blogged first at “Ain’t too Proud to Blog” at tampatantrum.com and then over at “Shutterblog” at shutterblog.com. Her blogs and websites were featured on MSN, MSNBC.com, The Today Show’s “Wild Weddings“, Lockergnome, CNN.com, on Tech TV (now G4 Network), and in Newsday Magazine and Vibe Magazine.

During this time Robyn also founded the annual “Blogger Boobie-Thon for Breast Cancer Awareness“. Robyn owned and coordinated the event from 2002-2006. Robyn and the ‘Thon were featured in Self Magazine, The New York Times, Wired News, The Chicago Tribune, Salon.com, and on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Robyn appears in the book “The IT Girl’s Guide to Blogging with Moxie“, and together with her husband Todd, co-wrote a section of the book “Online! The Book” by Chris Pirillo and John C. Dvorak.

Robyn’s hobbies include photography, cooking, dusting the house in her tiara, the OU Sooners football team, and hoarding pretty packaging supplies. (Not necessarily in that order.) She has a passion for politics, the inability to return e-mails in a timely manner, and an irrational fear of mariachi bands that dates back to childhood. And she was the type of mom-to-be that not only played classical music, but also Weezer, to her babies in utero. You know, for balance.

I LOVE your blog and check it daily. It has really helped me start to take my business in the direction it needs to be going. I have a question…do you have any info on music usage for websites? I know that some photographers use music with words and some recognizable songs, while others, (like myself) use music from free websites and are instrumental. I am wondering if there are any copyright laws about usage of music on a web page…any idea??

    Hello there,
A while back, you had a Halloween Marketing kit. Is this still something you have available? If so, I am very interested. I believe it was a kit that helped you work with pumpkin patches in your area, ect.

    Thank you so much!
